About Shellcaster

We think our creative tools can be far better. AI is one of those rare, defining innovations: it makes possible what wasn’t before, and lets us reimagine what a creative tool can even be. How we reimagine them matters. Build them right and they keep us in the creative driver’s seat, making us more creative than we were before, not less. That is the point: to raise the ceiling on what our tools can do, and on what we can make with them. We believe life can be better, not just cheaper.

We chose to start with writing. TextJam, our multiplayer word processor reinvented for the AI era, is where we put that belief to work first. But we always dreamed of the same leap for code: a native environment built from the ground up for AI, good enough to replace VS Code and Cursor.

As we built TextJam, we started building that environment for ourselves. We kept reaching for a faster way to see what our agents were doing, point at exactly what we meant, and keep a dozen agent shells moving at once, and before long we were developing on Shellcaster every day. It soon became clear this was something a lot of people should have. So we’re launching it in beta: a tool we love, use ourselves, and believe can make your work better, not just faster.
